sophistication. This bracelet is perfect to wear to an

African Helix Rope
In
this class Sheila will teach you how to make a magnificent rope, using the
African Helix stitch, named for its similarity in shape to a DNA Helix. It may
also be known and referred to as the Zulu Ladder stitch. This stitch comes to
us from Africa via the Zulu tribe, who form the largest ethnic group in South
Africa, and was most likely brought to the United States during the 1980’s.
This stitch is different from most traditional seed bead stitches in that the
thread is woven around itself to create the spiral movement. This results in a
very flexible tube with a hollow interior. If you take this class in
combination with Mindy’s Beaded Bead, you will make your rope to fit inside your
beaded bead, and learn how to hide the clasp for a seamless necklace.
Course fee $50. Tools available for use in class. Supplies
not included.
Project
will not be completed in class.

that you will feel
confident in the implementation of your designs. During class students will have the
opportunity to create one necklace or bracelet of their choice.

Cellini Spiral

We’ve
had many requests for us to bring back the Cellini Spiral. Mindy brings us a
spectacular example of this circular peyote stitch that is simply stunning.
Working with
different size and shape seed beads in addition to color variations
to make a stunning bracelet, focal bead, or rope using the Cellini Spiral
stitch. Virginia Blakelock was the original designer of this variation on
circular peyote stitch and named it in honor of Benvenuto Cellini, a 16th-century
Italian sculptor who was known for his spiral architectural columns. This is a
great way to learn the peyote stitch, and make a piece of art to wear at the
same time. The variations in size and shape are endless, and once you get
going, the possibilities are endless.

Itty Bitty Beaded Bracelet
This
is the perfect class for all you delicate flowers out there. Using some of the
smallest beads out there, you will make a stunning, but quite simply elegant
bracelet. It is sure to garner many comments as it sparkles on your wrist and
glitters from across the room. Did we say small – yes, we mean small! You will
use Delicas, size 15/0 seed beads and 3mm crystals to make your masterpiece. We
highly recommend that you bring a magnifier (visors, clip-ons, table-top, etc.)
if you have one. This is also a great class if you want to learn peyote stitch
for the first time, as long as you aren’t afraid to work with those itty bitty
beads. This is one of our students’ favorite classes! So, why wait, sign up

Loaded Spiral Bracelet

Sheila
brings us a new class featuring her favorite spiral stitch! This is a great
class for those of you who feel that the Loaded Spiral Rope might be just a bit
too much for you to fashion. This easy bracelet stitches up quickly once you
have decided on your pattern and get going. While this bracelet is similar in
feel to the “Caterpillar” style bracelets that everyone loves to make and wear,
it is not the same. The end result is very close, and for most, this will
stitch up faster. This cushy, bulky, “have-to-touch bracelet” is fun to wear,
and shows off your funky style! We suggest that you use bold colors and petal
style Czech glass or daggers in addition to Swarovski crystal for a stunning
inner glow. The dagger style fresh water pearls may also be used and give the
piece a very organic and spiny feel!

PMC: Introduction to PMC
Have you ever wanted to create in silver
but didn't want to go through years of training? This may be the perfect
choice for you. During the all-day class students will work with three
different types of PMC (lump clay, syringe clay and paste clay) to learn sound
basic techniques. Project one will be the creation of a pendant and
matching earring drops from the lump clay, emphasizing appropriate clay
thickness, drying, filing, and firing with both torch and kiln. Project
two will be a brooch or scarf pin made with syringe type PMC to gain an
understanding of forming over a base and firing with vermiculite. Project
three will be the use of paste type PMC to create an image of nature in silver
with special considerations of thickness and fire-ability of underlying
materials. Kiln and torch use will be explained as well as the technical
aspects of PMC (eg. shrinkage, firing temperatures). Students will also
have use of a tumbler and access to liver of sulfur and Black Max (antiquing
agents) to enhance their creations.

Russian Spiral Rope & Variations
In
this beginning seed bead class, learn how to make your own rope using the
Russian spiral stitch. This stitch is easy to learn, and makes stunning ropes
which you can wear as stand alone pieces, or as great ropes to showcase your
stunning centerpieces or amulet bags. You could even make a lariat and
embellish the ends. Mindy will showcase several variations on the stitch which
produce very different looks – some you might not even suspect as being the same
stitch. It’s a wonder what effects you can create by simply changing the color,
size, and/or shape of a seed bead. If you would like to make a piece similar to
the store sample, you will embellish the center to make a faux “focal” bead with Swarovski crystals. After you make a few ropes, try your hand at making a
graduated color rope such as green to blue and back again.
